"Artemis" Casting Call Brings Out Big Numbers in Concord

According to the Charlotte Observer, the casting call in Concord, NC, for Artemis drew in a very large crowd of hopefuls, all of whom are vying for the chance to be in the upcoming Artemis film, which has been given as the working title for The Hunger Games.
More than 2,500 individuals wrapped the inside perimeter of the Carolina Mall in Concord on Sunday afternoon in hopes of being cast in the upcoming film, "Artemis."
... "Artemis" is a feature film to be directed by Gary Ross ("Seabiscuit," "Pleasantville"), produced by Nina Jacobson ("Diary of A Wimpy Kid" 1 and 2) and Jon Kilik ("Babel," "He Got Game"), said Extras Casting Coordinator Tona Dahlquist.
"Sadly, we need four times as many adults for filming than children and teens," said Dahlquist. "However, it was a wonderful group. Despite the long line, everyone was very patient, had a great attitude and were still excited when they arrived at the casting tables."
... Some say "Artemis" is based on Collins' New York Times bestselling young-adult novel, "Hunger Games," but no one in the Charlotte area is officially confirming the connection. The movie database website, imdb.com, lists Gary Ross as director for "Hunger Games," and lists filming sites as Asheville, Charlotte, Shelby and Wilmington in North Carolina.
Visit the Charlotte Observer Online to read the rest of the article, which gives you individual, personal accounts of the casting process from the many people who waited in those lines.

  1. That's a really good interview! Thanks, but has Amandla read Catching Fire and Mockingjay yet?
