The Wrap has official confirmation that Willow Shields has been cast to play Prim in The Hunger Games movie:
Lionsgate has cast Willow Shields, a newcomer, to play Primrose Everdeen in "The Hunger Games," the studio announced Wednesday.

Let us know what you think of Willow as Prim!

  1. Hmt I'm not sure, how old is she ?

  2. She looks great! And, in other pictures, you can tell that she's small. So, that's spot-on, too! :D

So, that's 5 great casting choices that I've liked (Rue, Thresh, Glimmer, Marvel, Prim), and one great rumor (Elizabeth Banks as Effie). I'd say that this movie is getting back on track for me. lol.

  4. she's cute, but whats up with that unibrow!

  5. She's an untouched beauty, that's what I'm getting from her pictures, and there's this intensity in her eyes. I think she's going to make a great Prim, because Prim's not a vocal character, she's silently steadfast. I'm wondering if Willow is related to Brooke Shields or Tyler Shields the art photographer, I doubt it, but it's still a possibility.

This is one of the best weeks for casting news ever.

  6. so long as they do something about that unibrow...

  7. Come on guys, unibrow???...that's a little too shallow. Anyway, I think she looks perfect and she does have that innocent yet intense look about her.

  8. She looks like AnnaSophia Robb!

  9. thats not shallow, its just good grooming!

  10. Extremely excited for the rest of the casting news!!! Keep us all posted, guys! I'm dying to know Mrs. Everdeen, Cinna, Haymitch, Snow, and officially Effie. (Is Banks the legit Effie Trinket or what?) I think my favorite so far is Rue, but I like this girl's look as Primrose! <3

  11. I hope they will leave her unibrow. As a girl who grows up with poverty, starvation and The Hunger Games, I doubt she would care about her eyebrows. It would give a great touch to the movie, if look and physical perfection would not be the most important assets of the movie!

Dear Mr. Ross, please leave Willows natural beauty with all 'flaws' intact!

  12. @Anonymous who said they should leave her brows alone, I emphatically agree! They should leave them be, because it does add something to her and possibly to the characterization. Also, she's supposed to be 12, when I was 12 I didn't pluck my eye brows, I probably had a unibrow too! Keep it real, right?

  13. Wow another unknown! :D

  14. A uni-brow? Okay I'm sure they are going to work around that. People should not judge just based on appearances. But, she does look too old. It's kind of shallow to make fun of her looks. But I do believe she needs a lighter shade of blond for the movie along with blue eyes. She just doesn't strike me as the little girl crying for her sister's life at the justice building. Casting news is coming out really fast! I hope we hear about Haymitch and Effie soon! But back to Willow, great actor definitely. She has this intense look to her eyes. Katniss says the capitol has already ruined her sister's life by taking her father and starving her and i see that in this girl. Could someone get some statistics on the height?

  15. she looks way too old and what's with the unibrow? if i were her age and i had one, id rip it out myself! talk about embarassing!

  16. I think she's perfect...UNIBROW AND ALL. Willow Shields is just a kid...perhaps we should remember that before we make catty comments about her physical appearance. Besides, she's playing a girl from District 12...I highly doubt that their top priority was waxing their eyebrows at 12 years old..

  17. She's okay, she looks a little more like I though of Prim in the last book then in the first but she's cute enough. I love that they are finally picking a bunch of unknowns!

  18. eh...not my prim.

  19. Willow is darling, she'll make a great Prim..Congratulations to her!.

  20. For those who are asking about her height, she is standing at 4 feet 7 in according to IMDb.

In this picture, she has the intensity of Prim in 'Catching Fire' and 'Mockingjay'. I am not sure about her acting skills. Hopefully she is able to act well. I wonder if they will change her eye colors to blue though. Considering she is so young and I am not sure if contacts is advisable.

I admit I find her unibrow distracting but then again, at 12 years old, I doubt I would care about grooming and stuff, let alone one living in District 12. I am certainly looking forward to her performance as darling Prim!

This is such an exciting week!

  21. my sis looks a lot like her- and could have been prim- if she tried out, but if my lil sis was a stunt double- she would be her stunt double. the first thing my sis said when she saw her was "she has a unibrow too!" (my sis doesn't have a big unibrow unless u look close enough) and the funnier part was that they have the same hair color and eyes are a close shade! (kinda creepy) but my sis is taller. she looks talented and could pull of our darling prim!

  22. umm, some people may say this is mean... but she does have a unibrow. Prim is supposed to be really pretty, i'm not saying she isn't it's just she doesn't really seem like Prim to me. They could've found someone better.

  23. hmm-not my first choice for prim, but i really hope she can pull it off! i'll give lionsgate the benefit of the doubt...

  24. Listen up - shes a pretty girl and has the innocent look, but the unibrow is distracting. I did not formally have my eyebrows plucked until I was nearly a sophomore in high school, but my mom took pity on me at around 11 or 12 and plucked the hairs in between. If she has a "natural beauty" unibrow, than perhaps Jen Lawrence should have a unibrow grafted on until Effy messes with her hair too. Its a matter of innocence and I think she'd express herself well if she didnt have the hair distraction. She would look younger too instead of angry

  25. Besides the unibrow, I think she will make a great Prim!Let's just hope she can act.........

  26. i think she is perfect for the part. Although that unibrow does bother me a bit...I'm not saying she's ugly or anything, though, shes actually really pretty. And I do NOT think she looks too old for the part. Prim is supposed to be TWELVE years old. Willow is only ten. It's fine.

  27. Yes, the unibrow is totally distracting. I hope someone has a pair tweezers on the set!

  28. OMG GO AWAY UNIBROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Really? For those people who hate Willow's unibrow, remember that this is an 11 YEAR OLD. Who are you, anyway, to judge someone by their looks? It's superficial and so Capitol.

  30. I think she's perfect
